TV News Giant Don Hewitt Dies At 86
National News -- cbsnews.com -- Don Hewitt, recognized as a father of modern television news and the creator of the medium's most successful broadcast, 60 Minutes, died of pancreatic cancer Wednesday. He was 86 and had homes in Manhattan and Bridgehampton, New York, where was with family at the time of death.

KCTV 5 Kirk Black named VP/General Manager of WGCL-TV CBS Atlanta
Kansas City -- press release -- We received emails and heard a lot of rumblings about this a few weeks ago. Now it's official.
Today we are announcing that Kirk Black has been named VP/General Manager of WGCL-TV, our CBS affiliate in Atlanta, effective August 24, 2009. He is replacing Andy Alford, who has resigned. I want to personally thank Andy for his contributions during his time with Meredith.

TV host Ed McMahon is dead at age 86
National News -- AP -- Ed McMahon, the loyal “Tonight Show” sidekick who bolstered boss Johnny Carson with guffaws and a resounding “H-e-e-e-e-e-ere’s Johnny!” for 30 years, died early Tuesday. He was 86.

Peggy Phillip named KSHB’s new News Director

Peggy Phillip will take over as News Director for NBC station KSHB effective June 8th. Peggy comes from KSHB’s sister station WMAR-TV (ABC) in Baltimore where she has been News Director for the past year.
